Through engagement with our stakeholders and by developing key partnerships in our communities, together with our local, regional and international partners, we are contributing to sustainable development in the area of Sports and Life Skills in Trinidad and Tobago.
ICOD launched it Youth in Sports Initiative (YIS) in March 2019. The YIS program seeks to support young, upcoming athletes in their quest for excellence by creating opportunities for development. This is achieved through the provision of mental skills training for the young athletes and networking/negotiating on behalf of the athletes to access resources (equipment, training and financial) otherwise not available to the athletes.
Bluefins Aquatics Swim Club Inaugural Swim Meet

Over ten (10) swim clubs from across Trinidad and Tobago participated in this developmental swim meet which was aimed at improving the skills of young swimmers.
Youth in Sports (YIS) Ambassadors
In August 2019 ICOD launched its Youth in Sports (YIS) Ambassadorship program aimed at assisting young athletes to access the resources required to improve their specific sporting and leadership skills. Apart from being an athlete our YIS Ambassadors must excel academically (if attending school) and exhibit leadership qualities in their schools, workplace, groups and communities.
