Malika Imani Zuriel Mc Millan

 

SWIMMER BIOGRAPHY


Malika started swimming at the age of three (3) years and today she is a promising 8 and under competitive swimmer in Trinidad and Tobago.

 

Malika resides in Princes Town, and trains with Bluefins Aquatic Swim Club which is based at St. Michael’s Swimming Pool, Carib Street in the city of San Fernando. Malika has a passion for swimming, once she dons her swimsuit and steps on the starting block she is transformed into a focused, fierce, indomitable and disciplined competitor with a presence that cannot be ignored. In 2020 Malika will be competing for a spot on the National Team.

In the pursuit of her academic goals Malika is able to apply the same degree of dedication and discipline utilized in swimming to her academic work. She is a Standard Two (2) student at the Princes Town Methodist Primary School and a shining example of what a student should be, in the learning arena. Malika is able to produce what is certified as “Academic Distinction”, she was able to maintain an A+ average over the last academic year. She demonstrates leadership qualities among her peers, and as such she was democratically elected as the class prefect for the second consecutive year. 


Malika is an all-round student, she eagerly participants in all school activities. She is a member of the school’s dance group, she was also a member of the school’s athletic team where she was able to anchor the school’s 4 x 100 Girls Under 9 Relay Team to victory at the Zonal District Meet. She was crowned Ms. Easter Bonnet 2019 at the school’s Easter Bonnet Competition. She even entered the school’s Calypso Monarch Competition for Carnival 2019. 


Malika has represented Princes Town Methodist Primary School at several Schools Swim Meets since 2017. She has brought glory to Princes Town Methodist Primary School each time she mounts the podium to receive medals and trophies.
In September 2019 Malika was selected from over 2500 applicants to be an AMANZI Brand Ambassador. AMANZI is an Australian based sports swimwear company specialising in chlorine resistant training swimwear and fashionable swimming accessories. 


Malika is also an ambassador on the International Consultants for Organizational Development (ICOD) Global, Youth in Sport (YIS) Mentoring Programme under the firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative. The YIS programme seeks to support young and upcoming athletes in their quest for excellence in their respective sporting disciplines by creating opportunities for development. This is achieved by the firm providing free mental skills training for the young athletes and networking/negotiating to provide resources (equipment, training and financial) otherwise not available to the athletes.
Malika is both a champion in her own right and a champion in the making. Support the dream and help make it her reality!!!
